rampura: Rampura Chowk- Naurangpur Stretch To Get 110 Led Lights | Gurgaon News – Times of India
Gurgaon: A nearly 2.5km-long dark stretch between Rampura Chowk on NH-48 and the Naurangpur village will soon get 110 LED streetlights. The Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) has awarded the contract for installing the lights to a private agency at a sanctioned cost of Rs 96 lakh. Currently, the contractor is installing the poles, and the entire project will take a maximum of three months.
“The contractor will install 110 LED streetlights on nine-metre-high poles along the 2.5km-long stretch from Rampura Chowk to the Naurangpur village. Work on the foundation of the installation has started. We have kept the duration for completion of work at three months but hope to complete it within a month,” said Praveen Kumar, executive engineer, MCM.
The MCM had received multiple complaints about the absence of streetlights on the stretch from residents in housing societies in sectors 78 and 79. The residents said that the stretch has a few streetlights, but those are non-functional most of the time. “Also, the stretch near our society (Supertech Araville) has no streetlight at all. The only source of illumination is the headlights of our vehicles. The area becomes completely unsafe after sunset, especially for those working night shifts,” Raman Gaur, a resident of Supertech Araville, said.
Kumar said, “We have been receiving complaints from residents on the CM window. They have also registered complaints with the Gurgaon deputy commissioner and the MCM commissioner.”
The residents have been demanding streetlights in the area for the past eight years. “This has been a struggle for eight years, and finally, we will get some reprieve. This stretch sees heavy vehicular movement and is prone to accidents. Women who get down from buses at Rampura Chowk find it difficult to walk on the stretch in the dark. The streetlights will provide them with a sense of safety,” said Rahul Rajan, joint secretary, Monsoon Breeze.
